The 2008 Dectomax Charolais championships rivalled beef cattle competitions anywhere when they brought out a line-up of quality cattle that stole the show at Clogher Valley.

Three Interbreed Titles, Best Steak and Commercial Champion are Charolais!

The consumer who wished to view and experience meat quality at Balmoral Show had the complete production chain for quality, tenderness and taste demonstrated by the Charolais breed.

The Charolais breed may have been small in numbers they certainly made up for this in awards, taking three Interbreed titles – Reserve Beef Interbreed champion; Junior Beef Interbreed Champion; Marks and Spencer Interbreed Bull performance award - along with Tesco’s Best Steak award and the commercial championship.

Visitors to Clogher Valley Show for the past two years have commented on the wonderful line-up of white cattle at one end of the show grounds . The grand final of the Dectomax Charolais championships has brought out the very best young Charolais cattle from around the province and Clogher Valley Show committee has enabled these to be shown to best advantage.

Sporting Charolais wins at Balmoral

A Charolais bull named after the Arsenal player, Bergkamp took the Beef Interbreed bull performance championship at Balmoral Show.

Sandelford Bergkamp , aptly named by George and Gary Henderson, who own a sports outfitters and equipment business in Coleraine, took the award over all breeds for the highest combination of points in the show ring and on performance.

With a beef value of 34 this March 06 bull is by Goldies Usher, a sire purchased at Carlisle three years ago for 14,000gns. He is out of a Major daughter, Sandelford Seles which was named after the tennis player, Monica Selles. Bergkamp was also a red rosette winner in the Charolais ring for bulls born January to March 2006.
