2nd June Sale Preview
Recent successes throughout the food chain have sparked even further interest in the Charolais breed and the NI Charolais Club is offering farmers and breeders an opportunity to purchase high quality stock on Monday 2 June.
The catalogue features 35 bulls from sires such as Doonally New, Allanfauld Superscot; Maerdy Impeccable, Tullygarley Superman, Balmyle Vagabond, Derry giff Mills and Brampton Embark.
The 25 females on offer will enable breeders to acquire some of the top genetics in the breed with daughters of Oldstone Egbert, Alanfauld Superscot, Balthayock Nougat, Doonally New, Ashleigh Victor, Dunlon Ulick, Derrygiff Mills and Tullygarley Superman on offer. The entry also includes 12 heifers, the entire 2006 crop, from the noted Killadeas herd
John McGrath, chairman of the NI Charolais Club commented “ The number of Interbreed championships taken by the Charolais breed at Balmoral was impressive but when this was followed up by the commercial championship and reserve along with the Tesco best steak award that was the proof of the breed. We also note that Marks and Spencers Select Cattle Supplier of the Year uses a Charolais sire to supply the highest number of cattle from their suckler herd that meet M& S’s strict quality specification.”
The show and sale is being sponsored by Custom Built Homes, Swatragh, a company with the same ethos as the Charolais breed – quality and uniqueness. The company works on its own private developments and high quality homes for selected clients.
Prospective Charolais customers who would like to view the cattle on offer can do so during the judging on Monday 2 June which takes place at 4.30PM at Dungannon Farmers Mart. The sale will follow at 7.00PM
