Ballymena Bulls to 2900gns
Charolais bulls sold to a top of 2,900gns in Ballymena on Monday 2 May at the Northern Ireland Charolais Club’s show and sale.
The fixture’s leader at 2,900gns was Kilbridefarm Fiji TI +19, SRI +21, a 15 month old by the 10,000gns Thrunton Bonjovi and out of a homebred cow by Allanfauld Superscot from WH Robson and Sons, Doagh, Ballyclare, Antrim. The buyer was Michael Doyle, Draperstown.
Earlier in the day another Superscot son from the Robsons, this time the 18 month old Kilbridefarm Everest was bid to 2,600gns by JO Cassley, Armoy, Ballymoney. Everest was out of a homebred cow going back to Moyness Maharajah.
Next at 2,857gns was the 16 month old Deerfin Fusion TI +15, SRI +20 from E McGarry, Broughshane, Antrim. An Allanfauld Superscot son, he was out of a Lyonsdemesne bred dam and sold to Norman Wilson, Templepatrick, Ballyclare.
A bid of 2,800gns secured Annagh Enoch TI +30, SRI +35, for HP Nugent, Creagh Toombridge, Antrim. A 19 month old by Rumsden Star, he was out of a homebred cow by Dartonhall Poker from Will Short, Beragh, Omagh.
A second 2,600gns call was made for the rising two year old Rossharbour Emerald TI +16, SRI +23, by Plexus and out of a cow going back to Blelack Leopold. Bred and exhibited by HC Stubbs, Rummy, Lisnaskea, he was knocked down sold to J McCurdy, Broughshane, Ballymena.
John Erskine, Killylea, Armagh offered his top entry Dartonhall Empire TI +26, SRI +29 at 2,300gns to Maureen Armstrong, Garvagh, Ballymena. This Knockane Collen son was out of a homebred dam going back to Brampton Embark.
Two more entries shared a 2,300gns price tag. The 15 month old Tullylagan Festival by Gwenog Festival and out of a homebred dam from S Hammond, Sandholes, Cookstown was secured by Patrick McKendry, Glenbush Armoy, Ballymoney.
The third 2,300gns price was paid by KRI Patton and J Bright, Ballycarry, Antrim for Mullaghbane Flint, a 15 month old Mullaghbane Charles son and out of a homebred dam from WEF Elliott, Florencecourt, Fermanagh. The same vendor offered the 16 month old Mullaghbane Ferrari, an Oscar son and out of a homebred dam by Killadeas Jack for 2,050gns to A Cairns, Aghalee, Lurgan.
