Charolais Breeders Celebrate Success Over 100 breeders and guests celebrated the success of the Charolais breed when they attended the Northern Ireland Charolais Club’s annual dinner and prizegiving in Ballymena.
Chairman, John McGrath welcomed members and guests who included sponsors, Northern Bank, Ulster Bank, Alex Scott and Sons and Pfizer Animal Health. He also welcomed Brian King and Randall Hayes who assist with the NI National Charolais Show at Fintona each year.
A special welcome was given to Anky Boyd who has just retired from his inspection work with the breed. John McGrath referred to Anky’s dedication and professionalism and the enormous assistance he had given the breed over the years. Anky’s wife, Rhoda was invited to present the trophies.
Trophy Winners:
November Show and Sale (2006):
Lambeg Trophy for the supreme champion – Brian Phair, Enniskillen, Corryglass Avenger.
Auctioneers trophy for best exhibitor bred animal - Brian Phair, Enniskillen, Corryglass Avenger.
Ulster Bank Rose Bowl for the best animal of opposite sex to the champion – Gilbert Crawford, Maghera, Coolnaslee Violet
March Show and Sale. (2007)
The Millar trophy for the supreme champion – W H Robson and Sons, Ballyclare, Kilbridefarm Alladin.
Northern Bank Trophy for the best exhibitor bred animal – W H Robson and Sons, Ballyclare, Kilbridefarm Alladin.
First Trust Bank Trophy for the best animal of opposite sex to the champion – Trevor Phair, Florencecourt, Brogher Beverly.
May Show and Sale (2007)
The Simpson Trophy for the supreme champion – John Erskine, Killylea, Dartonhall Amazon.

The Bardin Trophy presented by the Bardin Family in France for the best Charolais animal at the show, the supreme champion - Stewart Murphy and Derek Campton, Lisdadnan Amy
