Dectomax Clogher Championships
Dectomax Championships a major success
A turnout of quality Charolais that ensured a crowded ringside during the entire judging schedule was how the Dectomax Charolais championships at Clogher Valley Show could be described.
Sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health and the British Charolais Society the generous prize fund attracted leading breeders and new breeders all anxious to take home some of the top awards. Judge , Drew Adam, from Angus had his work cut out for him when selecting a champion in each of the six sections.
In a senior bull class of 16 entries he eventually chose Coolnaslee Bonanza, an
April 06 bull from Gilbert Crawfords herd at Maghera. This bull is by Gilberts very successful stock sire, Allanfauld Superscot and is out of the home bred cow, Coolnaslee Phylis.
Leading the Intermediate bull section was John Erskine from Killylea with Dartonhall Bono, a Picador son out of Dartonhall Shania.
Malcolm Surphlis travelled from Lisnaskea to take the junior bull championship with Waterview Champion , a Doonally New son out of Waterview Madonna.
Gilbert Crawford was again in the lead in the senior heifer section with Coolnaslee Bella. This January 06 heifer is by Coolnaslee Trident and is out of Lendor Islia.
Brian and William McAllsiter brought out a large team of quality cattle which claimed a number of the prize winning rosettes including the Intermediate heifer championship with Burnside Bimp by Mowbray Park Paramount. This heifer is out of Burnside Timp which has already built up a successful show record.
Stuart and David Bothwell had two quality heifers forward in the junior heifer class and won this section with Killadeas Cynthia, a Doonally Prince daughter out of Killdeas Pansy.
