BCCS Championship

The British Charolais Cattle Society Championship was launched at Balmoral by Chief Executive Mr David Benson and President Jimmy Wilson of the British Society along with Ann Orr Secretary and Chairperson Sandra Cochrane.

The judge for the championship is Alistair Houston Gretna Green Scotland and Clogher Valley Show will host the Grand Final on Wednesday 27th July.

Qualifiers from Local Shows in province

The qualifying round began at Ballymena Show with the selection of 2 animals to start the competition off; Coolnaslee Fergie and Coolnaslee Foreman owned by G J Crawford

Ballymoney Show saw 1 qualifier coming through an animal from the same herd; Coolnaslee Fashion owned by G J Crawford Maghera.

Lurgan Show produced 7 qualifiers for the Championship; animals selected were from the Brigadoon Herd, Brigadoon Falvia and Brigadoon Geneva owned by the Connolly Family of Ballynahinch; Brentwood Grace and Brentwood George owned by the Ritchie family of Richhill, Armagh; Springfield Fantasy owned by Tom and Libby Clarke, Lurgan along with Ballyreagh Faith and Ballyreagh Fifi owned by Stephen and Jonathan Somerville, Ballygawley.

Armagh came up trumps with 6 qualifying animals.

Cornascriebe & Cornascriebe Gordon owned by John Watson

Ratoary Fearless & Ratoary Floss owned by Sean McGovern

Kiltybane Francis owned by Seamus Bellew

Coolnaslee Field Marshall owned by Gilbert Crawford

We await results from Newry, Omagh, Castlewellan and Clogher Valley, who have a qualifying class to top up numbers before the Grand Final kicks off in the afternoon of Wednesday 27th July.

The competition is heating up as show by show the qualifiers are competing for a place in the finals of the British Charolais Cattle Society Championship.

All systems go as preparations are made for this great spectacular on Wednesday 27th June at Clogher Show.

Charolais Breeders are urged not to miss the deadlines as entries close for forthcoming shows; qualifying classes will be held at Newry Omagh Castlewellan and Clogher Valley. Please contact show secretary’s for schedule and entry forms.
