The picturesque scenery of the Clogher Valley and the bright sunshine, was the perfect setting for the launch of this year’s Cydectyin Charolais Championships.
Over the next few months Charolais cattle awarded first and second placings at provincial shows through out Northern Ireland will be selected for the grand final of the Cydectin Championship at this year’s Clogher Valley Show. Visitors to Clogher Valley Show for the past number of years have commented on the wonderful line-up of white Charolais cattle at one end of the show grounds and has generated huge interest in the breed and the competition. The grand final of the Cydectin Charolais championships has brought out the very best young Charolais cattle from all around the province during the year and Clogher Valley Show committee has enabled these to be shown to best advantage.
The grand final of the 2010 competition will be held at Clogher Valley Show on Wednesday 28th July. Sandra Cochrane , Chairperson of the NI Charolais Club, speaking at the launch of this year’s competition said “ We are indebted to Clogher Valley Show for putting so much effort into running the final of our competition. In the past they have given the Charolais breed a dedicated ring and also space to mount our own exhibition marquee. Clogher Valley Show attracts a very large audience so it is the ideal venue for our final as it gives us the opportunity to present the very finest Charolais Cattle bred through out Northern Ireland
Raymond Irvine , Pfizer Animal Health who manufacture Cydectin and sponsor the competition said that he was delighted to support a competition that brought out such a wonderful display of cattle and helped highlight the success of Cydectin in the control of parasitic diseases.
Nicholas Lowry , Show Chairman , Harrison Boyd, Cattle Committee Chairman and Show Secretary, Ruth Montgomery attended the launch and ensured that all arrangements were in place for the launch of the Cydectin Charolais Championship and finalising arrangements for the grand final in July.
