An impressive entry of over 100 pedigree and commercial Charolais cattle turned out at the Northern Ireland National Charolais Show at Fintona on 4th September. Both the supreme and supreme reserve female of the show went to the Coolnaslee herd of Gilbert Crawford of Maghera. A repetition of his success last year!

The final of the Dectomax Charolais Championships at Clogher Valley Show attracted the largest entry ever with almost seventy premium Charolais cattle from across Northern Ireland on show.

Balmoral Show was definitely a grand slam for Charolais when the breed took the three Interbreed championships and a Reserve Junior Interbreed title.

Top prices may have been a feature of the Charolais breed in 2008 but it was the successes at Balmoral Show which highlighted the fact that the breed is tops from ‘farm to fork’, Doris Leeman Secretary of the NI Charolais Club told the annual general meeting
